Dual Screens: Is Your Set-up a Pain in the Neck?

Admin Incite - Monday, June 20, 2016

There are a number of factors that will influence the best set-up for you including the nature of the job, the work environment and any specific visual needs you have i.e. wearing glasses.

It will also depend on screen use i.e. how often you refer to both screens and whether one screen is used more than the other. The following tips provide a general guide to how to use dual screens safely:

• Use dual screens that are the same size and model
• Position them at the same height and depth on the workstation so they are sitting close together
• Adjust the text size, font style, colour brightness and contrast so they are the same for both screens
• Reduce awkward neck postures by placing the screen you use the most, directly in front of you
• If you use both screens equally, position yourself in the middle to promote neutral neck postures
• Don’t forget to vary your tasks every 20-30 minutes!
