Pain Sensitivity – Professional Development

Admin Incite - Monday, June 20, 2016

Incite Solutions Group team members recently attended a professional development session on pain sensitivity in injured workers presented by Specialist and Senior Physiotherapists at Pain Options.

Pain sensitivity is a poorly understood condition. It may present as pain symptoms that are disproportionate to the diagnosed medical condition. A team focus was of paramount importance to the success of pain management in an injured worker with the conclusion that all injured workers have differing needs, approaches and management in order to successfully rehabilitate them back into the workforce successfully.

Management Strategies include supporting the worker through education and commitment,

and ensuring the worker is not considered as having a mechanical pain and treated as such.

A good summary around the facts addressing clients concerns/beliefs about pain can be found on the Pain Options website
